My wife was very persistant with the Doctors and the insurance company to get me air ambulanced back to my home state, California. Once in the hospital in CA, they start me on physical therapy the next day. I was aware of what was going on, but I was unaware how serious it was or the magnitude of how long it would take to recover.
Nothing in the world can prepare you for what happens after a stroke. I had a stroke in a hotel on a business trip. I was found 7 hours later on the froor of my hotel room. I was completely unaware of what was going on in my life. I was taken to intensive care where they found a way to keep me alive. For 2 days I was in intesive care before they transferred me to a regular hospital room. During this time, my wife and children came to my side. I stayed in this hospital for 10 days, doing nothing more than eating and sleeping.
